Super Junior has yet again demonstrated their popularity overseas, this time selling out 90% of the 9,500 seats available for their Malaysia concert. “Super Show 3″, Super Junior’s third Asia tour, has been in session since 2010; it has had stops inSingapore, Japan, Seoul, and Beijing.

On February 19, on the same day as Super Junior’s “Super Show 3″ Japan stop, the sixth floor of the Sungei Wang Plaza saw 2,000 fans lining up to purchase tickets for the Malaysia concert.

Although the event organizers had prohibited fans from lining up overnight, fans found ways around the restrictions. As fans not from the area had already booked many of the hotels in the vicinity of the Sungei Wang Plaza, fans from all over began staking their territory around 10 AM on February 18. The plaza’s security guards prevented fans from forming distinct lines, but that didn’t stop fans from loitering.

Before the lines began forming at 8 AM, Super Junior’s fans went to the extremes, bringing food with them and preventing themselves from leaving the line even to use the restrooms. Some fans stayed up until 4 AM and hid from security personnel in the shopping complex’s fire escape until the sixth floor opened.

Tickets for the event were intended to begin selling at 10 AM. However, the presence of 2,000 fans from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore bumped up the starting time to 9:45 AM. The most expensive tickets, selling at 486 RM (approximately 160 USD), were the first to go. 1,400 tickets were sold within the hour.

Tickets were set to be sold online beginning February 20; however, February 18 saw VIP tickets offered online via ticket scalpers. The event organizers put an end to fans’ heated reactions, clarifying that VIP tickets were nontransferable. The presale for the event ended at 10 PM on February 19.

Some fans who were lucky enough to purchase front-row tickets expressed their joy by crying. Unfortunately for those who were unable to purchase a ticket during the presale, the event organizers emphasized that additional concert sessions would not be available.

Would you have joined the crowds to purchase tickets for the event?
